Abstract

• Acromioclavicular joint Injuries are recently increased and there are many procedures described for the treatment of acromioclavicular separation. But there are still controversies concerning to the proper choice of treatment. The authors had experienced 22 cases of acromioclavicular separation from 1984 to 1990 at Korea Veterans hospital with at least 6 months follow up Among them, nine cases were treated by technique of modified phemister method six cases by phemister with coracoclavicular wiring, seven cases by Weaver and Dunn method.
  The following results were obtained.
  1. Thease injuries were more prevalent in male with peak incidence in second and fourth derades.
  2. The most common cause of injuries was traffic accident. follorwed by fall down, slip down and sports injury.
  3. The clinical results were evaluated according to Gerald Weitzmans classification Overall results of more than good (satisfactory) was obtained in 86% of the cases 19.
  4. There were five complications; two cases of wire breakage or migration one case of subluxation, one case of heterotrophic ossification.
  One case of superficial wound infection.
